Prayer Counseling/Prayer Ministry

Prayer Counselor's are available during each service during the invitation to meet with those who walk down the aisle. They may pray with someone, provide information on becoming a member of First Baptist Church, or may guide a person through the most important decision of their life: accepting Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Volunteer's are in the prayer room ,located near the sanctuary, praying for the services as well as for individual prayer needs during the Sunday, and Wednesday evening services.

Outreach

Here at First Baptist, it is important to reach out to our community.  We do so by regular home, hospital, nursing home and school visitation.  We are in touch with our local schools and are available to do anything from buying school supplies to handy man jobs.  Our Deacons hold The Lord"s Supper for the resident's at a local nursing home.  There are many ways we try to serve our community, and anyone needing to be shown the love of Jesus Christ.

Missions Ministry

Our Missions Committee plans missions projects and also helps to educate the church on missions around the world. One way they do this is by bringing missionaries to speak during a service to share the work they are doing. They seek the Lord's guidance in providing financial support to several missionaries on a regular basis. They have also gone on mission trips in the past, and look for more such opportunities in the future. Even if you don't want to travel, you might still have a heart for missions. There are opportunities in missions right here at home.

Decorating And Flower's

The Decorating committee handles all the decorations for the sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall for special events and occasions. Throughout the year, they change the floral arrangements in the sanctuary, but most of the involvement comes during the holidays and special church functions.  They also water all the many live plants throughout the church. If you enjoy decorating or flowers your talents can be put to use at First Baptist.

Fellowship/Food Service

The Fellowship/Food Service Committee plans and organizes church-wide events such as church picnics, socials, meals, etc. Most events are held at church, but occasionally will be held at another location. If you enjoy time spent with fellow believers, and are willing to work to make these events happen, the Fellowship/Food Committee has a place for you. They also deliver meals to shut-ins on Wednesday night when they have the meal prepared.  Task can be as simple as slicing a cake or making tea.  We have a cook for our Wednesday night supper but we need helpers to serve, clean up and other tasks.

Ushers

The Usher's assist with helping guests find seats, especially during our high attendance days. They also distribute guest packets and collect the offering. Usher's are a vital part of our church, as they are often our church's "first impression", along with our Greeter's. They should be open and friendly with our guests, helping to make them feel at home here at First Baptist.

Greeter's

Greeter's meet guests and members at the doors as they enter for services. Much like the ushers, they are often the "first impression" a guest has of First Baptist Church. Greeter's will often help guests find a Sunday School class, and perhaps take them to the nursery and preschool area. If you love people, and always have a smile on your face, this is definitely an area for you to consider.

Tape/DVD Ministry

The Tape/DVD ministry of First Baptist Church provides copies of worship services,or special events to shut-ins who can't attend church. If you have a heart for those who are unable to attend church on a regular basis, this ministry might be for you! You could help by making us aware of any shut-in's who might want copies of our services.

Sound Technicians And Media

Have you ever wondered what those people in the booth's with the headphones on at the back of the church and in the balcony with the camera's were doing? They are the sound and media technicians. They ensure that the sound level is appropriate during the worship service. They are recording the services for the cable broadcast. Sound and Media technicians need to be available during the worship services. They also help with special events in our sanctuary. You can train for help in this area.
